Enhancement Shaman Spell Rotation

Maelstrom WeaponShaman spell rotation can be a bit tricky to figure out on your own. I’ve read enough posts in my time to have it figured out by now, but its not easy. To save everyone a little bit of work, I’d like to point out an excellent video posted and narrated by Redmist.

In general, an enhancement shaman’s spell rotation will be:

  1. Stormstrike
  2. Earth Shock
  3. Lava Lash
  4. Repeat

I used the term “in gemeral” for a reason. Here are the exceptions or rules to follow during the spell rotation:

  1. Always use Lightning Bolt if you have 5 stacks of Maelstrom Weapon.
  2. Always process spells in the above order preferring the first one that’s not on cooldown.
  3. At the end of each rotation, check to see if you need to refresh totems or shields.

That’s the basic spell rotation. Redmist does a great job of explaining things in his video. I encourage everyone to check it out.

    I’m gonna speak from experience and from things I’ve ready, this is true, in theory. It could be simpler said like this:

    A priority system, not a rotation
    1. 5 stacks MW Lightning Bolt
    2. Stormstrike
    3. Earth Strike
    4. Lava Lash

    I guess Chain Lightning is better if available than just Lightning Bolt.

    I get better DPS using Flame Shock rather than Earth Shock, but I have an odd rotation, a mix between spellcasting and beating stuff with a mace.
