Enhancement Shaman PvP Build

As an introductory post I’d like to talk about my enhancement shaman Kieron and his current 0/42/19 talent build. I almost exclusively pvp on this toon. His gear is decent for battlegrounds and starter arena matches. He’s one piece shy of having a full mix of epic pvp gear — I just need a 1550 rating. His talent spec is about 90% of a typical enhancement/restoration pvp build with one small twist that allows me to break the monotony of the battlegrounds. I’ll explain after the break.

My talent build includes the typical enhancement talents. I chose Shield Specialization over Ancestral Knowledge since I’m often targeted first in arenas and a shield is a nice aid against warriors and rogues. I went with Toughness to reduce the duration of movement impairing effects like Hamstring and Crippling Poison. This talent is more useful in 2v2 arena matches when trying to chase down priests and druids than it is in the 5v5 arenas.

The big difference between my build and your usual enhancement shaman pvp build is I chose not to take Unleashed Rage an instead I went with Healing Focus. Gasp! Let me explain. Reducing my chance of being interrupted while healing means that my spec is slightly different than the norm. Its come in handy during some 5v5 matches when our pally healer is targeted first and we need to survive past that initial burst of incoming damage. I certainly can’t do any sustained healing, but one or two short Lesser Healing Waves can really help out.

The other reason I took the healing talent is to be able to switch into some resto gear and do some healing in the battlegrounds. That talent plus some scraped together blues and a few greens makes for a more enjoyable battleground experience.

This spec is not an ideal build, but its how I like to play my shaman. We are a hybrid class, right? Its a great build for doing almost anything: questing, farming, battleground, and even arena matches.
